Barrière is seeking a Chief Engineer.

Located on the shores of Paraga Beach, Fouquet’s Mykonos is the Barrière Group’s first venture in Greece. Blending Cycladic art, Mediterranean horizons and French refinement, this exceptional retreat harmonizes with its natural surroundings to offer 61 suites, 3 private villas, panoramic terraces, and pools. Complete with a rock-carved spa, the ROKA restaurant, and direct beach access, it delivers an intimate yet spectacular Mediterranean experience. 

Your role is to ensure excellent maintenance of the building, infrastructure, and the overall appearance of our hotel. Your role comprises overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel building’s infrastructure and exterior. You should conduct routine maintenance of our entire hotel facility.

To be successful in this role, you should be a quick decision maker and efficient enough to handle demanding situations. You should have excellent knowledge about health and safety standards.

Job description

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Technical Excellence & Safety Compliance

  • Safety & Security: Ensure the absolute safety of people and property by strictly enforcing health, safety, and fire regulations in accordance with Greek Fire Department (Πυροσβεστική) standards.

  • First-Line Maintenance: Manage and execute repairs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and pools) to prevent operational downtime.

  • Compliance & Audits: Monitor and apply Greek laws and internal standards; facilitate inspections by local and international auditors (e.g., Apave, Securitas, Hellenic Food Authority/EFET).

  • Emergency Leadership: Train teams on procedures for evacuations, first aid, and security protocols specific to the region.

Operational & Preventative Management

  • Annual Planning: Design and execute a rigorous preventive maintenance schedule, carefully timed to minimize inconvenience during the high tourist season.

  • Facility Oversight: Maintain the general condition of buildings, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, particularly regarding water safety (Legionella prevention) and pool maintenance.

  • Sustainability: Implement and monitor the Barrière Group’s sustainable development policy, adapting it to the Greek environment and local resource management.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Talent Development: Recruit, train, and conduct annual appraisals. Identify training needs and encourage career development within the department.

  • Communication: Serve as the primary technical liaison between the establishment and the Group’s headquarters.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Budgeting: Participate in drawing up operating and investment budgets; ensure compliance and optimize human resources and expenses to improve profitability.

  • Utilities & Contracts: Manage energy, water, and telephony in coordination with local subcontractors. Negotiate and supervise maintenance and purchasing contracts.

  • Purchasing: Adhere to the Group’s purchasing policy and maintain optimal stock levels for business continuity.

Qualification

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Polytechnic University level preferred).

  • Significant experience in the luxury hospitality sector, with a deep understanding of Mediterranean climate challenges (humidity, heat, and seismic building codes).

  • Certifications (Mandatory/Highly Recommended):

    • TEE Membership: Registration with the Technical Chamber of Greece (Τεχνικό Επιμελητήριο Ελλάδας) is often required to sign off on technical documentation.

    • Certified Pool Operator (CPO): Knowledge of Greek health regulations regarding public swimming pools and water treatment.

    • HVAC/Refrigerant License: Valid certification for handling cooling systems, critical for the Greek climate.

  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Greek is essential for dealing with local authorities and subcontractors. French would be an asset.

Salary: €1,600–€1,900 / monthly.
